Halo 3 Launch

Photo

Seth and I arrived around 8:30pm at our local GameStop to begin our three hour wait for the midnight release of the most anticipated game of the year, Halo 3. To their credit, GameStop did a really good job of making the process effortless by having everyone confirm their pre-orders were paid in full before midnight so all we had to do was walk in and out at 12:01am. Meanwhile, they had a live outdoor DJ, a hotdog vendor and outdoor gaming rigs set up creating a very party like atmosphere. Once everyone formed their place in line, it took only about eight minutes for us to have our copies. What little I’ve played so far is really fantastic.

Apple Road Trip

Photo

It’s become a kind of tradition for Seth, Craig and I to take a road trip to the nearest Apple store a couple of times a year. A new one just opened in Louisville Kentucky, only an hour and a half away. Thanks to the $100 store credit Steve Jobs was kind enough to give me I picked up an Elgato eyetv hybrid HDTV USB receiver. I’m looking forward to playing with it tonight.

Diagnosis: Normal

I had been having bad, persistent chest pain on the left side of my chest for over a week. It was accompanied by numbing pain down my left arm, around my left shoulder and my neck. Of course. I’m thinking “Crap! My heart! I’m dying!” so taking no chances I went to the emergency room. They sent me home that night and my doctor eventually suggested that I might just be having acid reflux and sure enough taking an acid blocker and some Tums made the pain go away. None the less, he did a blood analysis and everything was normal. Even my cholesterol and blood pressure was normal which really surprised me since I’m a bit overweight and I don’t really eat the best foods.

So today as part of my follow up visit, I had to take a stress test to check my heart one last time to be absolutely sure. A stress test is where they make you run on a treadmill until you can run no more all while they have you hooked up to machines. Anyway, the doctor who performed the test said I was completely normal. All in all, I’ve learned that a) I now know what acid reflux feels like and b) apparently I’m way more healthy than I thought!

Easy Listening

Someone at NeoGAF asked for some easy listening music suggestions. I checked my iPhone and was surprised by how much I had. Judging by their release dates, the late 70’s early 80’s must have been the hay-day of easy listening or something.

Twitter Added

Why do blogs typically fail?  Because creating original content can be tough, especially for a shut-in like myself. So, to prevent falling into the same trap I’ve decided to add a twitter feed to this blog. It will be displayed at the top of the homepage.  Twitter is a fun tool specifically designed for sharing brief, rapid-fire posts of what’s going on in your life.  While my twitter feed will likely update more often than my blog, I’ll continue to make blog posts for bigger things like sharing photos and short essays.
